In addition to the bands in the back room, Maxwell's (1039 Washington St.), the venerable Hoboken establishment known far and wide as a Metro area music hotspot, has plenty to offer the senses in the front room between gigs. While you're waiting on that chicken pot pie, take a look around and enjoy the scenery. The ever-rotating décor is the work of local artists, painters and photographers. In the case of renowned illustrator Karl Heitmueller, local means behind the bar--he could very well be the one pouring your Old Speckled Hen.
