Riddle me this – what’s the deal with that guy in the Batman outfit who rides around Hoboken on his bicycle? “It’s my hobby,” says mild-mannered Marlon Rodriguez. “I have a good time on Washington Street because people love what I do–I entertain them.”

Equipped with a computer screen, horn, siren and a Batphone, Marlon has used his eco-friendly Batmobile in a quasi-official capacity on more than one occasion. “The police feel they have my support; sometimes I stand in the middle of the street and direct traffic.”

Originally from Cuba, Marlon is obviously more than just an average fan. “We didn’t have many movies when I was growing up in Cuba,” he says, “but we had Batman.” For an alter-ego, Marlon Rodriguez is the Bruce Wayne of backrubs, working as a massage therapist–a fitting vocation for a guy who just likes to make people feel good. For more on Hoboken’s Dark Knight, check out hmag.com for “Interview with the Batman.”
