Every month hMAG throws an hMIXER to support local businesses and bring the community together. This past Tuesday, May 18, the tables were turned a bit as Hoboken came together to support and assist hMAG as we co-hosted a special May hMIXER with Hoboken Family Alliance to benefit Faith Pruden, a 6-year-old from Ohio battling terminal brain cancer.
hMAG first learned about Faith when our creative director was contacted by a friend (via Facebook) about a little girl’s website of wishes (faithswishlist.com). Faith, with the help of her mother, Sarah, had a number of wishes she wanted to fulfill – including to make a cake with Buddy of Carlo’s Bakery and TLC’s Cake Boss, and to be in a magazine. hMAG, because of their proximity to Carlo’s Bakery and connections in Hoboken, decided to fly Faith, her sister Trinity (9), mother, Sarah, and grandmother, Laura, from Columbus, Ohio out to The Mile Square to check some things off of Faith’s list – and then some.
With an entire special week planned for Faith and her family thanks to hMAG advertisers, Hoboken businesses, friends, family, and even some generous strangers, hMAG was able to put together something very special for little Faith. Unfortunately Faith’s special trip to Hoboken was cut short when her illness took a turn for the worst. The family flew back to Columbus, Ohio early Tuesday morning.
Even with Faith and her family unable to attend, hMAG’s May hMIXER on Tuesday the 18th at The Quays acted as a fundraiser for Faith. Donations were collected all night and raffle tickets were sold – all of the money going to Faith’s medical bills. Some of the raffle prizes were donated from hMAG advertisers The Sak, The Shannon, and Koko FitClub, along with other Hoboken businesses William Howard Home, Revival Vintage Boutique, Sport TaeKwonDo, and Priority Chiropractic. Not only this, but the hMIXER boasted two live performances from Hoboken’s own Ray Greiche and a special acoustic performance by Adam McDonough and John Miller of 7Mornings. By the event’s end, over $1300 had been raised for Faith and her family.
