Falling Is Like This, by Jersey girl and Hobokenite Kate Rockland, paints a portrait of a week-long love affair between 23-year-old Harper Rostov and Jersey punk rock "god" Nick Cavallaro, set in the East Village. As Rostov lives out her fantasy with the Hitchhiker’s Revenge guitarist, she soon begins to wonder if his “scene” is really the right fit for her.
Rockland wrote Falling Is Like This as a sort of “love note to New Jersey,” in fact drawing inspiration from some of her experiences as a writer for Rolling Stone and Us Weekly. Rockland now resides in the Mile Square where she works as a pre-school teacher, teaches sewing at M. Avery Designs, is working on her second novel 150 Pounds (which takes place above Empire Coffee in Hoboken) and is expecting her first child in September.
Falling Is Like This is on bookshelves in May 2010. Check out www.katerockland.com for more info on the author.
