As part of the statewide tour, Hoboken Bar and Grill hosted an evening with the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, August 5. Since moving to The Rock (Prudential Center in Newark), the Devils have been looking to expand the franchise and grow their fan base. Their tour will cover 8 counties and hit 7 or 8 stops along the way as they reach out to not only loyal fans but look to hit about 70% of non-ticket holders along the tour. The Devils feel by greeting people on their home turf they will be able to attract newer fans. Plus bringing alumni such as Ken Daneyko, Grant Marshall and Bruce Driver on the tour couldn’t hurt. Hobokenites were able to mix and mingle with the former stars as well as ask questions concerning the franchise.
Devils Chairman and Managing Partner Jeff Vanderbeek was on hand as well to talk about the tour and the future of The Devils. He is confident in the team and is happy to market themselves as “Jersey’s Team.” He is looking forward to the idea of a possible Winter Classic as well as an All-Star game at The Rock. He feels people are really looking to get behind The Devils as they saw last year. ”The moves we made already had us selling out 7 of out the last 8 games last season,” Vanderbeek said, “and this year’s schedule may be the best ever.”
