Pilsener Haus & Biergarten Coming to Hoboken

Oktoberfest will be celebrated a bit different this year in the Mile Square City. “HUH? WHAT? WHY?” Well, Pilsener Haus & Biergarten is set to open at 1422 Grand Street this fall. This will be Hoboken’s first outdoor biergarten featuring European beer, food and live entertainment!

The owners had a strong vision: transformation from the former Light Assembly factory into a simple laid-back and good-humored atmosphere that corresponds with the history of biergartens that originated in Europe. This relaxed ambience will consist of wide open space under trees and 20-foot-long communal tables, where people of all ages and professions can share a friendly fun time; and a sterling pint of beer!

Beer is part of Mile Square City’s culture. The 10,000 square foot location plans to have 18 beers on tap (none of which will be domestic), along with 30 to 40 bottles; and that’s just to start! The biergarten will also feature two full bars, two grills serving German-style sausages, kielbasas and other menu items.

The 6,000 square feet inside and 4,000 square feet outside are sure to lure in a variety of people that appreciate the character and individuality of a brewery-like environment, enchanting nostalgia, and authentic European beer, food and fun.

The beer garden’s name is derived from a light golden Czech lager called Pilsener. The lager originated in Pilsen, a Czech town.

The three partners originate from the Czech Republic, and currently reside in New Jersey. Andi Ivanov co-founded Radegast Hall & Biergarten in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. Petr Jurecka and Ladislav Sebestyan have backgrounds in hospitality and marketing. The trio brings to the table hands on knowledge and experience to transform their vision into a traditional biergarten.

There is much work ahead for the Pulsener Haus & Biergarten owners to complete their transformation. Their goal is to have the transformation complete and everything up and running by Oktoberfest; but then again, who needs a holiday or excuse to enjoy a good pint of beer? Definitely not me! Oompah anyone?
