hMAG's Fashion Cover Contest Party at Teak

In June, hMAG opened its first, official Cover Contest for its upcoming fashion issue. We invited any Hoboken woman to send their name, contact information, and photo to our team in order to becoming involved in the contest, showcased on www.hmag.com. The online hMAG community rated each photo, with the top three, highest-rated women receiving the chance to be featured on our next cover, styled by local salons and photographed by the infamous River Clark. Needless to say, after the three winners, Amanda Sivo-Jervis, Karla Pinillos de Epstein, and Victoria Michelloti, were chosen, it was only the beginning.

Saturday, 7/31, saw not only the much-anticipated photo shoots, but the super swank Teak After-Party as well! River Clark and the hMAG Team accompanied our models to three different locations (Lana Lounge, Teak on the Hudson, and Room 84) for each to have their own shoot representing a different aspect of Fall 2010 Fashion. The shoots went fabulously, with each model looking radiant in her own style. Thanks to Rebellations Hair Studio, TONI&GUY, and Hair Cult, all three models’ hair and makeup looked ready to grace the runway of any high-end fashion venue.

Finally, after a few well-deserved drinks, everyone involved in the all-day shoot headed over to Teak on the Hudson for the hottest (and most well-fed) party in Hoboken. The friends and family of the hMAG Community came together to enjoy a night of free drinks, free food, and a sweaty atmosphere. Boats of wasabi-laden sushi, spring rolls, and grape martinis were enough to keep me interested, let alone the pounding music and good company. All in all, July’s last day represented a high point in the hMAG history that I hope can be repeated again and again.

Every month hMAG will be having a free hMIXER at an advertiser's venue to support local businesses because, after all, hMAG is all about the community. All proceeds from hMAG mixers go directly to the bar or restaurant catering the event. Every hMIXER is featured in an "EventPix" page in an issue of hMAG and on hmag.com.
