Connect by Hertz has done it again; Hoboken’s Corner Cars program has hit a new milestone and now exceeds 800 members. Only four months old, this greener “city-wide on-street car sharing program” just exceeded 400 members in early September and is obviously growing fast.

"In a very short period of time, we're seeing an average of more than 19 residents share each of the 42 Corner Car parking spaces," said Transportation and Parking Director Ian Sacs. "This is an extremely efficient use of our limited on-street parking capacity, and I'm thrilled the program has been so successful so soon."

Corner Cars provides Hoboken residents with convenient access to a car without the cost of owning one, paying gas or garage bills, and removes any parking or street cleaning woes. Residents interested in this convenient, affordable car-sharing system can access the rapid activation membership kits (available at Hoboken Parking Utility). By requesting a rapid activation kit and signing up online, Corner Cars provides residents with instant access.

“The application fee and first year membership fees are waived when using the special promotional code, although no driving credits are provided using this option. Residents who surrender a permit are still eligible for $100 in driving credits if they use the rapid activation kit, and the first 40 to surrender a permit will receive $140 in driving credits.”

Along with this, Connect by Hertz has extended their Monday and Tuesday $5/hour promotion until 11/16/10. Until then, residents can enter the promo code “Hoboken” to receive $100 driving credits and a two-year free membership (with $25 application fee).
