Diligently typing away on his laptop in Starbucks on Newark Street, Joe was able to take a break and chat with hMAG. From Jersey City, Joe frequents this Starbucks regularly as his number one place to be productive and get some work done.
As CEO of a fairly new marketing company, BroadReach, Joe keeps himself quite busy. The young company, nearly 1 month new, consists of three other members on the team. Joe's day begins around 10AM, where you will most likely find him at the Starbucks, typing away on his computer, just as I did. Having the flexibility of remote locations for work is just one of the perks of Joe's job. While at Starbucks, Joe will work on various client projects, while communicating with his team that is doing the same. He will stay at Starbucks until he has finished his tasks for the day; Then its back home, or out to some of his favorite Hoboken hangout spots.
BroadReach targets small businesses, which is one of Joe's favorite things about the job. "It's exactly what I want to be doing," he said. "I enjoying working with small businesses, and working closely with people." The least appealing aspect of Joe's job would have to be the unpredictability about it, "and the selling!" he laughed.
Intro to Marketing sophomore year in college is where it all began. "I didn't know what I wanted to do at first," he said, "but the class really sparked my interest, and now I love it!" Joe's interest in marketing has exponentially increased since he graduated three and a half years ago, and I have no doubt that it will continue to do so.
In regards to favorite things to do in Hoboken, Joe enjoying walking down Washington Street, and checking out the bars and restaurants. Two places that rank high on his list are The Shannon and Blackbear Bar and Grill. "It's the familiarity and atmosphere" that draws Joe in.
"I come to Hoboken with specific needs, so there isn't really anything that I think Hoboken needs more of," he commented. Joe also added that he really isn't around Hoboken without a purpose to accurately comment on what Hoboken could see more of or less of. But the time that he does spend in Hoboken can be summed up as "enjoyable and convenient." "The public transportation that Hoboken offers is what makes it so convenient," he said.
This laid-back, empathetic, and fun young man does more than just help out small businesses. "I'm a very outdoorsy person," he said. Some of his other hobbies include watching movies and television, (Dexter, one of Showtime's hit series) and traveling! Argentina was Joe's most recent vacation spot. "I went for ten days," he said. The most interesting part of the trip for him was admiring "the different culture, architecture, and history."
In terms of goals, both short and long term, Joe just hopes for success with his business. And my hopes are high that his business will!
