It's Monday morning in the new year and we're all back to the grind after the holiday season. We made it through the pocket-emptying, cookie-baking, smile-til-your-cheeks-hurt, drink-til-you drop time of year. So now what?
hMAG has some great ideas for you to get those new year's resolutions into gear... and to get that pep back in your step. Winter blues? We don't think so.
1) Try new things
Our mile square city has much to offer - what haven't you done yet in town? Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Take the Hoboken Hop one day and cut down your travel time (not to mention get out of the cold).
- Haven't been to an hMIXER yet? Luckily for you, we've got some GREAT happy hours planned (one a month) with drink specials, free food, prizes, and plenty of opportunities to get acquainted with the hMAG team and our beloved Hoboken.
- Still rocking the same look from 2010? Time for an update! Hit up Toni&Guy salon (1125 Maxwell Lane) or Rebellations Hair & Beauty Studio (44 Hudson Place, 3rd FL) and have your locks worked on by real professionals. OR, for a less-permanent makeover option, head to Townhouse No. 620, Lucy's, Jessie James, or one of the many other on-trend boutiques in town for some updated wardrobe essentials.
- Volunteer! It's 2011, make this the year for giving back! The Hoboken Volunteers offer many opportunities for volunteering and socializing. Check out their site for a calendar of events and information on how you can make a difference.
2) Eat healthy & exercise
Sure, you've resolved to finally lose those last few pounds or make good on that gym membership, but how about you put your resolution into action - for real.
- Start with a healthy diet and choose fresh, local products. Stick to smaller portion sizes, low-calorie, low-fat, low-sodium options. For some quick & easy made-for-you food, Energy Kitchen is a great choice. They offer salads, wraps, smoothies, and healthy meals with nutrition facts readily available.

3) Be bold & take risks
- No holding back - do what you've secretly been dying to.

4) Positive thinking!
- Realize your goals. Think about them every day. Keep them in mind. Positive thinking brings positive energy and leads to actualization. Sounds corny? Try it.
