Hoboken’s turning green, and it has nothing to do with St. Patty’s Day and drunken bar-hoppers. In 2011, Clean Green Co., an eco-friendly cleaning service based in Scotch Plains, NJ, is painting the town of Hoboken green. And it all started with Batman.
Founder Jennifer Mortarulo learned that air fresheners she used in her home had caused her beloved dog, Batman, to suffer a horrible seizure in 2005. As a loving mother and pet-owner, Mortarulo set out to remove all toxic products from her home and educate herself on alternatives.
After three years of extensive research, Clean Green Co. was founded. The residential and commercial cleaning service uses only non-toxic, eco-safe brands like Bon Ami, 7th Generation and Holy Cow. “The products in the market today that are toxin-free and environmentally friendly do the same if not a better job than the mainstream products we grew up with,” said Mortarulo.
