The great thing about living in Hoboken is it always reminds you why you love this town. And that’s the great people that live here, work here or have opened a business here. Last Friday night was another reminder. When Rory Chadwick from Midtown Authentic found out about a local woman with stage 4 cancer struggling to simply pay her bills he decided to do something about it. And then he got other people to do something about. And they got other people and so on. So on Friday night it all came together at The Quays and a great time was had by all.
The local businesses(too many too list) came out in record numbers to donate prizes, money or simply come to the party and support Cynthia. There were well over 50 raffle prizes from bars, shops, gyms, you name it. Katie McGee from CBS Morning Show was there to donate her time and Emcee the event. The cover charge of $20 was all donated to Cynthia as well as all of the raffle money totaling almost $6,000.
On top of raising money, the night was fun for all especially Cynthia. Kangaroo Jones was gracious enough to play for free with their incredible “Blues Traveler” esque sound. They truly got the night going. The Quays, on top of donating two $100 gift cards, provided apps for everyone to feast on as well as drink specials.
At the end of the night the last person tearing up the dance floor was Cynthia; with a great big smile on her face and what I’m sure was a huge appreciation for the town she loves.
