On Tuesday, April 19th, Hoboken Rotary Club held its weekly meeting not at the usual location of The Brass Rail but rather the Hoboken Charter High School.
Members of the club were served food from around the world created by students of the Interact Club. The reason for the meeting was for the two groups to get together and learn more about each other. The Rotary Club started working with the Interact Club last year and this was a chance for both to meet face to face.
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.
The Interact officers were able to get up and introduce themselves and talk about what the club means to them. Natia Brown, Club President discussed her 5 day retreat in which she was able to meet with other Interact Club members from around the state. Other founding membersDylan Oliver (Secretary), Zdja Greenberg-Thompson (Treasurer) and Cheyanne Montalvo (Vice President) were introduced as well.
