On Thursday, over 150 men and women from around the community met at the Hoboken Business Center parking lot to enjoy an afternoon of hot dogs, burgers, cold drinks and inspiration. The Chamber of Commerce introduced it’s newest committee of 25 women that represent the Women-in-Business committee of the COC. Chamber president Michael Novak and Mayor Dawn Zimmer spoke at the event and spoke of the importance of the committee and recognized each of the newest committee members by name. In addition Mayor Zimmer congratulated Hoboken Fire Department members Audra A. Carter and Maria D. Diaz on their promotions to Fire Captain with the HFD. Mayor Zimmer also made note that both women are the first fire captains in all of Hudson County.
“I joined the women in business council because put simply, everyone wants to do business with their friends. There’s no form of advertising or marketing for your business that can replace personal relationships and referrals. I was very pleased to meet other successful and intelligent women yesterday and I’m excited to work together in the near future.” said Kristin Ehrgott, a sales associate for Prudential Castle Point Realty with HobokenHomeMatch.com and founder of a marketing/branding consulting firm MindseedMarketing.com.
Marie Stinson of the Hoboken Law Firm LoPiano Kenny & Stinson added “I think the women in business council is a great addition to the Hoboken Chamber of Commerce. I think the event yesterday was great reconition for the successful women business owners in our community. These women make a different in the community and as a group will make an even greater difference. They will bring experience, knowledge and dedication to community events and supporting businesses.”
The event which was held from 11-2 had gorgeous weather and was a great networking opportunity for many.
