The Grand Opening of the Lana Santorelli Gallery – Saturday June 4th 6PM!

After a brief recess due to renovations, the Lana Santorelli Gallery will finally open its doors on Saturday, June 4th to showcase its new home on Washington Street in Hoboken. The Grand Opening will not only introduce the new pad, but guests will be able to enjoy the works of Lana Santorelli herself, at her solo show from 6 to 9PM. Viewing the beautiful and vibrant colors Lana uses in her work is a perfect way to get all guests in the mood for a wonderful and exciting summer, so don’t forget to join in on the fun! The show will run from its opening day on Saturday, June 4th until Sunday, July 3rd, so all that are interested in visiting have half the summer to indulge in Lana’s highly creative exhibition.

A little bit about the artist:

Lana has only recently called Hoboken home, though the move wasn’t far away, “I moved to Hoboken last year from New York and absolutely love it here. One day we decided to look at apartments and fell in love with the small town feel and usefulness of the area. We bought a townhouse on the water; just looking out and seeing the NYC skyline is inspiration in itself.” Her relocation to this 2 mile town helped Lana to see that Washington Street is the perfect location for her gallery, which is very artist-centric and community-focused, just like Hoboken.

Although Lana’s been an active creative artist for 25 years, she recognized inspiration at an early age describing it as, “something you have inside you that just manifests at a certain time.” It seems that ‘certain time’ occurred after she raised her six kids (talk about finding inspiration), but her drive to paint and create comes from within. Well, maybe some of us have to look a bit deeper inward to even attempt creating the work that the self-taught Lana naturally expresses herself in. Pretty hard to believe she’s had zero training, huh?

Where else does Lana find her inspiration? “My inspiration comes from looking at the world and evaluating. I travel extensively, so it allows me to take in other cultures and absorb the scenery. I bring that back from my travels and it is reflected on my canvases,” says Lana.

After a little self-analyzing of her work, Lana declares her work to be emotional abstraction and says, “I paint from my own perceptions and feelings. I see my canvas as a young child ready to be shaped.” Perhaps her role as a mother helps her to nurture her work into colorful, emotional, and beautiful pieces. The vibrance of her colors express the energy and passion Lana brings to her work, and enjoys the effect of bold colors on her subjects. Whether she uses vibrant colors or a softer palette, working with color is her favorite tool to express what she’s feeling when she creates a piece.

Excited to be finally opening her gallery after the move to 628 Washington, there will be about 20 recent portraits and landscapes of Lana’s whose recent work consists of painting and mixed media. After much consideration of her recent favorite piece, she muses, “Meadow, a painting of nature and all its majesty.” Creating pieces such as this is her favorite part of the job, “What I love most is coming in to the studio in the morning to my empty canvases. I don’t always know what I am going to work on; I allow my imagination to take me to places I have not been before.” While Lana loves her job, she admits it has one flaw- the administrative side!

Lana Santorelli: artist, mother of six, and so much more.

Did we mention that Lana is artistic in more ways than one? She also loves to write and has written a few editions of a cookbook, two volumes of poetry along with a novel, novelty books, and is currently working on a children’s book series. She also loves to cook and entertain in addition to photography, sculpture, and of course, spending time with her family. Intrigued by Lana as much as we are? Don’t forget to stop by her gallery on Washington Street and share in her excitement of the grand opening!

Be sure to look out for Lana’s continued programs of group shows that will promote the contemporary artwork of emerging and underrepresented artists after her solo show ends on July 3rd. To visit the gallery, hours of operation normally begin on Tuesday until Sunday, 11AM to 7PM.

Interested in hosting your next event in a unique and stylish space? Lana’s gallery is perfect for cocktail hours, launch parties, and any other events you might be having so you and your guests can enjoy the exquisite scenery of unique art while you host!
