Rosa from Black Bear

May 3, 2011 posted 384 days ago Bokenology Rory Chadwick

With so many bars in town to choose from on any given night, and all their specials it is often hard to choose where to go.  I recently met up with a few Hoboken bartenders to ask them what is it really like to be serving the people the drinks.  We love our bartenders and they in turn love us.  Today I met with Rosa from Black Bear and she shared with me a little bit about a day in the life of being a bar maid in Hoboken.

Rosa from Black Bear

RC - How long have you been at the Black Bear?
Rosa - 7 months

RC - What is the craziest moment you ever saw working in a bar?
Rosa - A customer once got his change back and swore the bartender shorted him.  The customer made a huge scene and threw the tray of fruit garnishments at the bartender and then broke one of the TV's.  The man got arrested.  The manager after closing replayed the video camera and found that the bartender was correct in giving the right change, the customer was wrong.

RC- What is the biggest tip you ever got?
Rosa - A regular came in once and dropped $100 after ordering 1 Heineken

RC - What is the best drink you make?
Rosa - A chocolate Martini

RC - Have you ever served a celebrity?
Rosa - Melky Cabrerra

RC - How do you kill downtime?
Rosa - Chat away!

RC - What are your favorite sports teams?
Rosa - The Jets and the Mets

RC - What is your favorite food to eat while at work?
Rosa - The buffalo wings, the wings here are really good.  I also love pizza.

RC - Bruce Springsteen, Buddy Valastro and Tony Soprano, all considered bosses in NJ.  Who is the boss in your opinion?
Rosa - Bruce Springsteen
