As someone who doesn’t live in Hoboken, I originally figured Pier C was just another version of Pier A- a waterfront area where people can walk around, sit on benches, lay on the grass- nice but nothing that exciting. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the pier and saw what almost looks like an island; lush, green trees everywhere with playgrounds scattered throughout the park, surrounded by sidewalk and the Hudson River.
Walking onto Pier C you can see the Manhattan skyline, which is always exciting to me, but you also get a nice view of the restaurants and buildings that line Sinatra Drive. As I walked around Pier C I noticed various playgrounds where a few children were playing, along with an area of large water fountains where kids can cool off on scorching summer days. There’s also a grassy area where people can relax and fit in a tanning session on sunny days while checking out the Manhattan skyline.
Pier C looks like an inviting location that will attract many people from the community. I think it will bring out a lot of families, couples and business people on lunch breaks or people who have some free time during the day. It’ll be a great place for parents to come with their kids after school and over the summer. Parents can relax on benches surrounding the playgrounds while their children run around and get their exercise for the day. It’s also a great place for couples to have a picnic or stroll along during the warm summer evenings. There are multiple viewing posts where people can get up-close views of the buildings across the Hudson, and benches to kick back and enjoy a sandwich during lunch. There’s something for all people of ages to enjoy.
Walking around Pier C made me wish I live in Hoboken- I would definitely take advantage of the pier’s scenery and the beautiful summer weather.
Pier C Park is now officially open to the public every day from 8:00 AM until 9:30 PM.
