With 4th of July weekend right around the corner we decided to ask around town and see how the people of Hoboken plan on celebrating.

Question: What are your plans for 4th of July weekend?

Fritzie Goldenberg: I’m hoping to go to Atlantic City- I haven’t been in a while. I went a few years ago on 4th of July and they have really good fireworks.

Teresa Casaburri: I’m going to a wedding in South Jersey. My boyfriend’s friend is getting married. My boyfriend will be wearing a hot pink shirt and a linen suit. I guess it’ll come in handy if he ever hangs out with P. Diddy.

Stefano Bassanini: Not sure yet- either going to a party in the Hamptons or visiting a friend in Pittsburgh for her birthday.

Falko Klunowski: Partying a lot. I’ll be back home in Germany.

Elizabeth & Douglas: We’re going to the Gansevoort Hotel- hanging out on the roof and partying.

THEN, we asked the hMAG crew…

Kevin Cale, CCO: I will be at the beach wearing my orange thong hanging tough with the fam.

Brittney Hanlon, Designer: Hm… Fourth of July…. that’s a Monday. I’ll definitely be working at Dubliner and praying it’s NOT crazy. If it’s not,  I can wind down from all the drunk people that didn’t go down the shore over the weekend.

Steve Berrebi, Photographer: I’m gonna be taking candid photos of Cale in an orange thong and iron it to my hMAG t-shirt…

Kelly Rainey, Contributing Writer: I’ll be on Long Island then Cape Cod that weekend but WISHING I was in Hoboken to watch the fireworks from Pier A!

Joe Mindak, Publisher: My buddy has a sweet roof deck at his office above Oddfellows.  I’ll be partying there.

Melissa Melms, Managing Director: I’m going down the shore for the weekend to celebrate my birthday at the beach but coming back up on Monday to watch the fireworks!

Simon Dabkowski, Web Director: I might take Melmso up on celebrating her bday down the Jersey shore.

Obviously, everyone’s going to have a great holiday weekend. If you’re not going out of town, here are some ways to celebrate your July 4th in Hoboken!

Kick off your 4th of July with the St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church’s annual 4th of July concert. For the past eleven years the church has held a concert to honor the country and celebrate in the community. The concert will be held July 3rd at 9:30am at the church, located on Hudson and 8th Street. Don’t miss the trumpets and vintage pianos at this free event!

End your 4th of July with a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by Macy’s. This year thousands of guests are expected to view the 35th Annual Macy’s 4th of July fireworks over the Hudson River. Park yourself on the Waterfront and watch the sky light up with over 40,000 fireworks synchronized to classic standards such as God Bless America and todays hottest pop songs by artists like Katy Perry and Taio Cruz. The Macy’s 4th of July fireworks will cover 2 miles of sky and reach heights up to 1,000 feet. Fireworks start at 9pm so come to the Waterfront early to get a front row seat for the famous annual display.

With thousands of people expected to attend the 4th of July fireworks, using mass transit is strongly suggested. The city has many options including PATH, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, NY Waterway ferries, or NJ Transit commuter rail or bus.

If you decide to drive parking will be available in municipal garages B and D on 2nd and Hudson St. No parking will be allowed on the following streets from 8am to 12am on July 4th:
–Sinatra Dr. from 15th St. to 1st St. (No parking as of 8am July 3rd)
–4th St. from River to Clinton (on the south side of the street)
–Willow Ave. from 11th St. to 4th St. (on the west side of the street)
–Hudson Plae (by the PATH) Newark street from Hudson St. to Sinatra Dr.
–Clinton St. from 7th St. to 8th St.
–Hudson St. from 14th St. to Observer Hwy. (on the west side of the street)

Whatever your plans, hMAG wishes you a fun and safe July 4th!
