Career Coach Starts Job Search Boot Camp

August 4, 2011 posted 290 days ago h Now Victoria Hinojosa

Most people are aware of how difficult it is to find a job these days. Some might wonder how they’re supposed to get back into the work force when it seems like all companies are doing is laying off employees. If you’re one of these people- whether you’ve been recently laid off, thinking about switching careers, or wanting to get back to work after taking time off- then the FREE Job Search Boot Camp is exactly what you need.

Career coach Ethan Chazin is giving Hoboken residents the opportunity to learn a new set of skills to market and package themselves as a product in order to find jobs that don’t exist. Ethan spent 23 years working in managing roles as a recruiter at companies like Time Warner Cable. After being downsized in 2008 he decided his time would be better spent as a career coach, where he could offer a unique perspective from his experience as a corporate recruiter. “I help people find their dream jobs by teaching them how to find jobs that don’t exist. It’s definitely unconventional.”

Ethan has been a resident of Hoboken for 13 years and believes his Job Search Boot Camp is a way for him to give back to the community. Beginning this Friday from 6:30pm to 7:45pm Ethan will focus on teaching participants how to acquire new skills in a job market that is constantly transforming. Ethan believes that one of the largest problems people face when looking for a job is “they have been taught to fill a position- now they spend most of their career looking for work. People aren’t understanding that the issue is looking for a job that doesn’t exist.”

Which is where Ethan comes in. His Job Search Boot Camp is based on a methodology of assessing who you are and what you can deliver to companies. “We won’t be working on resumes or learning how to write a cover letter. Instead, I’m going to teach people to focus on a core set of personal strengths that they can use to package themselves to companies.” Ethan takes the idea of self-packaging and marketing and then applies it to searching for a dream job. “I want to help people find their dream jobs. They figure out who the senior person is at a company, and I help them develop a call script to sell themselves to get a job that doesn’t exist.”

The first Free Job Search Boot Camp takes place at the Multi Service Center this Friday, August 5th, from 6:30pm to 7:45pm with additional dates on September 2nd, October 7th, November 4th and December 2nd. Ethan encourages anyone from high school to their late 50’s to try out the workshop. “Anyone can take away these strategies. It has universal appeal; If someone’s out of work they should come. If someone’s a stay-at-home mom or dad, they should come. Regardless of their background, everyone can benefit.”

Ethan’s Job Boot Camp is a different, unique way for people to tackle what often turns out to be daunting job searches. If you’ve been having trouble finding a job or want to learn a new approach to job searching, then be sure to attend the FREE Job Search Boot Camp this Friday.
