Cormac from The Shannon

August 5, 2011 posted 289 days ago Bokenology Victoria Hinojosa

VH- How long have you worked at The Shannon?
Cormac- 6 years

VH- What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen behind the bar?
Cormac- Jesus...there’s a lot..I definitely can’t be honest about any of them. None are suitable for the magazine, that’s honest.

VH- What’s the biggest tip you’ve ever received?
Cormac- 100%. Usually from women. I’ve seen people put down $100 bills.

VH- Have you ever seen a celebrity?
Cormac- I saw 50 Cent the other night. That was at a different bar though. Jonathan Goff from the Giants frequents here. I didn’t recognize him and told him he could get a job here and he said he already has one!

VH- What kind of music do you listen to at the bar?
Cormac- Absolutely everything. A wide variety, you have to meet people half way. Can’t just listen to what I wanna hear.

VH- How do you deal with downtime when it’s slow?
Cormac- With great difficulty. I have a hyper personality. I’ll restock, clean, anything to keep me busy.

VH- What are the pros and cons to working at a bar in Hoboken?
Cormac- You meet a lot of good, interesting people. A con would be...it’s hard to have a quiet night out. Everyone wants to have a beer or shot with you and I have so many friends it’s hard to see them all.

VH- Do you know any good bar tricks?
Cormac- Oh yeah...I’m trying to think...I would say I’m an entertainer. I definitely am.

VH- What’s the best tip you can give someone trying to earn a buyback?
Cormac- Never ask for it.

VH- What’s your favorite sports team?
Cormac- I like the Red Sox. I have to be careful saying that around here...
