Leather, lace, fur, and sky-high stilettos rocked the runway at Room 84 in Hoboken on Sunday for celebrity stylist Eric Alt’s “Carnivale: A Fashion Fantasy,” a charity fashion show benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
This glittering spectacle featured many reality celebrities including “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Kim G., celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz from “The A-List,” and renowned U.S. Olympic Skater Johnny Weir.
“I have been working with Eric for about five years now, and he has been getting me ready for some of the biggest moments of my life,” said Weir.
Alt has been traveling with Weir on his book tour, and just recently arrived back from a trip to China.
“Eric is far and away the best hair artist I ever met,” said Weir. “He is a true visionary, a true artist. He can make something out of nothing. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair.”
This time Weir was walking the runway for his good friend along with fellow celebrities and models. The night’s fashions were provided by celebrity designers Asher Levine and Adrienne Landau. New pieces from designers Chris Benz, Phuong My, and others were also in the show.
“It gives New Jersey a little peacock moment,” said Weir. “It brings together so many different kinds of people.”
hMAG photographer Steve Berrebi was elected by Alt to be the official photographer of the event, and he had a special twist on the pictures he would be providing for the evening. Working with Berrebi was photographer Sean Hutcheon.
“I did not want to get in there with a regular lens,” said Berrebi. “I gave Sean a lens-baby. It’s a different kind of lens that messes with the proportions in the frames.”
The lens gave the pictures a semi-distorted whimsical look, which went with the dream like theme of the show featuring fashions with exaggerated proportions and dramatic make-up.
“It was really a blessing [to be part of the show],” said Berrebi.
Over 500 people came for the fashion show, which had to be done twice so that everyone had a chance to see it.
“It was amazing; it was a huge success,” said Alt.
