SDV – How long have you worked at Texas Arizona?
Rafael – 5 months

SDV – What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen behind the bar?
Rafael – In my life? Sex behind the bar. People sucking olives out of my hands.

SDV – Have you ever seen a celebrity?
Rafael – Joba Chamberlain, Dan Aykroyd, a bunch of the Devils.

SDV – What kind of music do you listen to behind the bar?
Rafael – Reggae. I’m from Hawaii that’s all I listen to.

SDV – How do you deal with downtime when it’s slow?
Rafael – Whatever makes me laugh…talking about beer with co workers, making fun of people, trying to make someone cry.

SDV – What are the pros and cons to working at a bar in Hoboken?
Rafael – Pros: money, hot girls, more money, and being able to introduce beers into a town that hasn’t really accepted new beers. Cons: People not accepting bartending as a career…(thinks) there’s not a lot of things because I chose this line of work because I love it.

SDV – Do you know any good bar tricks?
Rafael – My knowledge of beer.

SDV – What’s the best tip you can give someone to earn a buyback?
Rafael – People who seem to care about having a healthy conversation is enough for me.

SDV – What’s your favorite sports team?
Rafael – Yankees…it’s tattooed on the back of my head.

SDV – What’s the biggest tip you’ve ever received?
Rafael – It’s actually from the owner of this bar. I got $200 on a $25 tab.

SDV – What’s the smallest tip you’ve ever received?
Rafael – Nothing. I’ve gotten zero. The other day a guy bought three beers and did not leave $1.

SDV – Any crazy customer stories?
Rafael – The girl sucking my finger was pretty strange. Another girl kissed me and thought I was her boyfriend.

SDV – What’s your favorite part of working at Texas Arizona?
Rafael – I love the people I work with; they’re amazing. Our beer selection is awesome, and money.

SDV – What’s your favorite drink to make?
Rafael – Usually jager bombs because I’ll do it with the customers.
