The cold weather was nothing to deter crowds from converging on the Titled Kilt at hMAG’s latest mixer. The new sports pub tucked in the back of Hoboken at 800 Jackson St. provided a warm welcome to guests arriving for the event.
Guests were treated to free appetizers like their heaping plates of French fries served with three dipping sauces. Attendees also got to enjoy the drink specials, which included shots of Jameson. Who doesn’t want a little nip of whiskey to take away the winter chill?
The night’s prizes included gifts from hMAG’s event co-sponsor ZogSports, who donated gift bags. ZogSports is a co-ed sports league for young professionals who want to have fun all while doing good. The league offers many opportunities for teams or individuals and promotes good sportsmanship and an opportunity to give back to the community.
Other items raffled off included items from the Hair Cult and Marma Day Spa.
But the special guests of the night were none other than the distinguished members of Hoboken’s American Legion Post 107. The veterans group, which aims to meet the needs of all soldiers retired or returning home, spoke with guests during the evening.
It was a poignant moment midst the revelry of the evening when Publisher Joe Mindak thanked everyone for attending and introduced the Veterans to the crowd. Veteran Thomas “Pepsi” Brereton gave a heartfelt speech to locals:
“I can’t thank you guys enough,” said Brereton. “You made us old Veterans feel so welcome. I get all choked up. I haven’t had this kind of welcome in years.”
Members of the American Legion Post 107 thanked Mindak for making people aware of the local group.
Proceeds from the 50-50 raffle were given to the Veterans so they can continue their mission. For more information on how you can help the local Veterans, please call JoAnn Peluso at (201) 618-3344.
So until next time Hoboken, keep up the good work. We hope to see you at our next mixer!
