Walk by Solid Threads on First St. and see if you don’t get a sardonic chuckle. “Welcome to New Jersey Don’t worry we hate you too,” is printed on the chest of one, counter to the classic tourist tee. While a women’s slim-fitted St. Paddy’s day-edition reads: “Get me drunk and we’ll see.”

The store is loaded with hundreds of such shirts emblazoned with light-hearted jibes. I suggest checking out the clearance rack in the back first for deals on apparel for men and women, sweatshirts, hats and more.

On my first visit, I purchased a dark blue t-shirt with the slogan “Nature, get into it!” above a picture of a mountain, evergreen trees and a setting sun. After wearing it once, I actually thought I was turning into a hippy: I wore that shirt for two weeks straight! It was relaxed and broken-in. Sure some of my friends made fun of me, but the ridicule was well worth it. And besides, who needs friends when you found the perfect tee.  Check them out at www.solidthreads.com.
