Aaron Sorkin Filming in Hoboken, Road & Traffic Closures Expected Sunday Through Monday

Writer/Director Aaron Sorkin (“West Wing”, “The News Room”, A Few Good Men) will be filming a new feature, The Trial Of The Chicago 7, in Hoboken Sunday afternoon through Monday.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne and more, the film tells the story of 7 people on trial stemming from charges surrounding the uprising at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

According to the City of Hoboken, the production will have the following impacts:

Road Closure: From 3 PM through early morning hours on Sunday 12/8/2019 and 3 PM through early morning hours on Monday 12/9/2019, 14th Street will be closed from Washington Street to Park Avenue and Garden Street will be closed from 13th to 14th Street. 

Filming will require detours and impacts on NJ Transit Bus Services.

Detour: From 3 PM through early morning hours on Sunday 12/8/2019 and 3 PM through early morning hours on Monday 12/9/2019, buses from Hoboken Terminal to Port Authority will skip the following stops: 11th and Washington Streets, 13th and Washington Streets, and 14th Street between Bloomfield and Garden Streets. Buses from Port Authority to Hoboken Terminal will skip the following stops: 14th Street between Park Avenue and Garden Street, 14th Street between Bloomfield and Washington Streets, and 12th and Washington Street.

The City also advises residents that some street lights in the area will be turned off during filming, and a water based haze will be used to create a smoke effect. Film production trailers will park on Washington Street between 14th and 15th Streets, and at the vacant lot north of Harborside Park.
