Fridays Are For Frank: “The Second Time Around”

“Love is lovelier, the second time around…”

With words by Sammy Cahn and music by Jimmy Van Heusen, “The Second Time Around” was introduced in the 1960 film High Time, sung by Bing Crosby with Henry Mancini and his orchestra.

Frank Sinatra recorded it for Reprise Records in December of 1960, reaching the #50 position in the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“It’s that second time you hear your love song sung
Makes you think perhaps that love, like youth, is wasted on the young…”
