As temps begin to slide towards freezing later on this week, the need for a good, warm jacket becomes more and more apparent in our part of the world.
“Giving back should be a part of life,” says Jack & Co’s Joe Schimmel. “The more you give the more you help, and we are all about helping each other. It makes you feel good.”
TRUE Mentors is a local philanthropic organization that provides a voice of encouragement to disadvantaged youth in our area.
“TRUE Mentors works with these children to try to give them the strength and encouragement they need. Some children will learn certain skills or intern at businesses to introduce them into the workforce,” says Schimmel. “TRUE Mentors does all of this on a shoestring budget,” he adds. “I hear stories of the volunteers buying paper, cleaning supplies, food, etc. and giving their time for free. TRUE Mentors is just a remarkable group of people.”
In an effort to help the group in their ongoing service to the greater Hoboken community, Jack & Co. is throwing a bash on Thursday, where a $10 drink special gives $5 directly to TRUE Mentors. Also, a 50/50 Raffle will donate all proceeds to the organization.
Attendees will be asked to bring gently used coats, to be distributed to those in need.
“You can expect a really fun time for a good cause,” says Schimmel. “We’ll have Gravy Train singing all the best cover songs, food and drink specials all night long, and tons of amazing people who share the same positive mindset.”
