RAVE: Greek Town

RAVE: Greek Town

When it comes to the restaurant business here in Hoboken, THIS IS SPARTA…

While the Falafel Wars, Crepe Wars and Bagel Wars rage on Washington Street, Greece is the word around town—with multiple Greek restaurants preparing to wage a sort of Peloponnesian War for share of stomach here in the Mile Square City.

One such establishment is not so much a city-state, but a Greek Town—located at 86 Garden Street.

Opening earlier this summer, Greek Town is a welcome addition to the downtown dining landscape, filling a great spot on the corner of Newark. The spacious restaurant also offers outdoor dining, which is perfect for lunch as the sun ducks behind the building to give shade in the early afternoon.

The welcoming service is outdone only by the delicious offerings on the menu—“yeeros” (their spelling, not ours) kebabs, salads, traditional entrees, and a variety of delectable desserts.

If the little ones are wary of Greeks bearing gifts, there’s even a practical kid’s menu, making Greek Town an Aegean experience for all ages.
