There’s a Winter Weather Warning in effect for the entire NYC Metro area, with up to a foot of snow possible from 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday morning.

According the the National Weather Service:

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, except 10 to 15 inches across interior portions of the Lower Hudson Valley, and most of interior southern Connecticut. Locally higher amounts are possible.
  • Impacted areas will include New York City, Northeast New Jersey, The Lower Hudson Valley, Southwestern Connecticut, Middlesex, Nassau and northwestern Suffolk Counties.
  • The system will move in around 10 PM this evening and continue to affect the region though 4 AM Thursday.
  • A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible—particularly during the evening commute on Wednesday. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.
  • If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.
