‘DON’T COME AROUND HERE NO MORE’: Guitar Bar All-Stars Honor the Late, Great Tom Petty with World-Record Play-Along

***EDITOR’S NOTE: In a key sentence in our remarks we said the word “don’t” instead of “do.”
The sentence should have been: “Do Come Around Here Some More.” Sort of a double negative.
We think that probably clarifies things pretty good by itself.***

My sister got lucky, married a yuppie.

Now there’s a Tom Petty lyric that resonates here in Hoboken…

When the iconic American musician passed away late last year, it left a huge hole in the cultural landscape. So many of his songs were seamlessly woven into our lives—a reality that came rushing to the fore with his sudden departure.

To honor his tremendous impact, the Guitar Bar All-Stars will pay homage via their annual attempt to break the record for the “World’s Largest Band,” inviting musicians to join them in Sinatra Park on the scenic Hoboken Waterfront this Thursday night, July 26, as they play a setlist of Petty classics.

Featured numbers will include “American Girl”, “Freefallin’”, “You Don’t Know How it Feels”, “Running Down a Dream”, and many more favorites.

For a tutorial on playing these songs, check out the Guitar Bar’s facebook page.

This is the fifth year that area musicians have come together on the Hoboken Waterfront for this event.

Registration begins at 6:00 p.m., and the gig gets underway at 7:00 sharp.
