Following up on a story we first ran last March, Hoboken’s Irish culture is still very much alive and well—despite the continued absence of our St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The Hoboken Irish Cultural Festival continues to grow year after year, while the Hoboken Guards Hurling squad have built up one of the region’s premier GAA (Gaelic Atheltic Assoociation) programs.

Underscoring their success is the Hoboken Guards Camogie squad, having just captured the North American Championships in both junior and senior divisions.

In her story for The New York Times, Jessica Bal takes a look at the proud Hoboken program, and what it means to ex-pats and neophytes alike who connect to camogie’s hearty athletic tradition and the top-notch competitive spirit of the GAA.

Congratulations to the Hoboken Guards—2015 North American Camogie Champions!!!
