With Halloween behind us, should you continue searching for a new home at this time of the year?

The answer is yes—it is most definitely worth looking.

For a variety of reasons, late Fall/early Winter can be a great time for home buyers. It is true that the market is not as busy as it is in Springtime, but this allows buyers to look at a potential new home more than once and not feel the pressure of having to put in an offer the first time they see a property.

Obviously there is still a lot of activity in the market—so you may not avoid it in all cases—but this time of the year when you’re less likely to enter into a “best and final” scenario to secure the home of your dreams.

So if you are ready and willing and have your pre-approval in hand, take the time this weekend and visit some of the great available homes in our area.

Mortgage Market in Review:

Mortgages rates have stabilized as the Fed has left Prime unchanged for the month of November. Most analysts are predicting an increase in Prime of .25% in December. Traders have already started to price this increase into the market, so it would be interesting to see the reaction of the markets should this increase no occur, or if Prime was risen by more than .25%. In the short term, the markets are waiting to see how the Monthly Jobs’ report looks on Friday morning. This always has the potential to be a market mover, though the last few Jobs’ Reports have done little to move mortgage rates.
