LEO’S SHRIMP SINATRA — Mangia!

LEO’S SHRIMP SINATRA — Mangia!

by Diana Schwaeble

Hobokenites know the value of good local eatery—the kind where regulars are greeted with a nod and a smile while your favorite drink is poured and you are asked about your day.

Leo’s Grandevous, located at 200 Grand Street, has been feeding Hoboken for 75 years. At this Italian restaurant you won’t find the usual sports bar crowd that occupies many of Hoboken’s hotspots. What you will find is a gem of an Italian restaurant that serves traditional antipasto (hot or cold), and great Italian food in a terrific atmosphere.

The walls are covered with pictures of Frank Sinatra at every stage of his life. Above the half-moon bar rests the bar stool for the Chairman of the Board. Sinatra fans would be hard pressed to find another place that boasts as many pictures of Hoboken’s most famous son. This is an Italian restaurant that encourages guests to linger while savoring a meal all while paying tribute to Sinatra. There is even a dish named after him.

Shrimp Sinatra is a filling pasta dish layered with shrimp, mushrooms, artichokes and a rich sauce. While Frank never actually ordered it, he would surely approve.

Leo’s is open for lunch, dinner, take out, catering, and private parties.
