MedEvac Helicopter Commandeers Hoboken’s Pier A

Just before 5:00 on Friday afternoon, the great lawn at Pier A was cleared for use as a helipad due to medical emergency.

According to the City of Hoboken, “An individual was in need of a medical evacuation from the Hoboken University Medical Center to Hackensack University Medical Center. The individual needed to be taken to Pier A for the transport and is receiving further care at Hackensack.”

A large portion of the Pier was temporarily sealed off to the public, then reopened immediately upon the helicopter’s departure.

No further details have been given regarding the individual and/or the emergency.
