Mo’Town Throwdown: Morristown Mayor Claims They’re “Way Better Than Hoboken”

Let’s make this clear from the get-go: we at hMAG love Morristown. We have some very good friends in Morristown.

BUT…

We won’t back down from some good ol’ fashioned trash talk.

It seems the Honorable Tim Dougherty, Mayor of Morristown, feels that his town will continue to rise up the ranks as one of most desirable places to live and work in New Jersey—boldly stating, “I think Morristown is way better than Hoboken.”

Yup… he went there.

The reason Dougherty is throwing shade at the Mile Square City is that his village green lost out to our Washington Street in last year’s American Planning Association NJ People’s Choice Awards for the “Best Downtown” category. His reference to our title claim came during his annual “State of the Town” address, as reported by MorristownGreen.com.

“It’s been amazing to see the transformation in our downtown,” said Dougherty.

Hats off to Mayor Don King Tim Dougherty for his trash talk inspirational speech…

In response, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer had this to say:

“I agree Morristown is a great town. The best part is the train station where you can get a quick ride to Hoboken!”

BOOM.

It’s on, Morristown… BRING IT.
