ONE FOR THE ROAD: Early Morning Driver Arrested in Hoboken for DWI w/ Open Container

Hoboken Police arrested a driver who was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a stop sign with an open beer bottle in the vehicle. That driver was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, among other charges.

On Sunday, November 24 at 5:10 a.m., Sabier Bracero (32) of Jersey City was observed by Hoboken ESU Officer James Barbro traveling northbound near 11th & Madison Streets at a high rate of speed. Officer Barbro saw Bracero’s vehicle run the stop sign at 12th & Madison, and he pursued, pulling the vehicle over in the area of 15th and Jefferson Street.

Approached the driver, Officer Barbro states that he detected the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Bracero. Officer Barbro reprotedly observed an open bottle of beer in the center console. Officer Domenick Allegretta and Officer Matthew Isler responded as back up, with Officer Allegretta performing a field sobriety test on Bacero, who reportedly failed.

Bracero was then placed under arrest for DWI, DWI School Zone, Reckless Driving, Open Alcoholic Container in Motor Vehicle. After providing a breath sample, Bracero was reportedly found to be above the legal limit.
