RAVE: The Fruit Cobbler Cocktail — Stingray Lounge

RAVE: The Fruit Cobbler Cocktail — Stingray Lounge

by Diana Schwaeble

Imagine for a moment you are at a beach resort. Cool breezes beckon. The pool shimmers in the sun as you sit under an umbrella surveying your surroundings. You watch your extremely competent barman as he mixes vodka, muddles fruit, and shakes the hell out of your drink.

The pour is pure perfection. The vodka mixed with fresh raspberries and blueberries renders the drink a dark pink. The taste is icy, fruity, not too sweet, with a citrus finish.

The Cobbler, one of numerous specialty cocktails at the Stingray Lounge (1210 Washington Street), can’t take you to sandy shores, but it can take you away. The lounge, which opened in October 2014, offers high-end cocktails that are paired with their raw bar. Guests can sample clams, oysters, shrimp and lobster. The décor is streamlined simplicity. A marble bar top is accented by hanging lamps and an impressive wall of displayed liquor. White lounge chairs flank the front window.

The Stingray is clean, modern, and chic—exactly what one wants when sampling raw seafood, and enjoying a remarkable cocktail.
